Mat boards - 04-24-2008, 06:31 AM

Any suggestions on Mat boards? I currently use boards from Light Impressions the archival matboards which are extremely expensive, but look nice, really nice. And the angst of almost everyone else, I mat in white, and when I frame, I use a think black metal frame. Any other sources or good matboard people out there?

Hobby Lobby sells large ones and they are almost always on sale. I bought one (32 x 40 or something) for $7.99 and it was 50% off, so $4.
Don't know if they are archival or not, since I actually bought it for non-matting reason (wanted colored thick cardstock like material for an experiment)

Hobby Lobby will cut it to size for you and I don't believe it costs you anything. I used to mat my own work (cross stitch then) and bought a mat cutter. It works, but for the same price of a mat, they will cut it...I don't do it myself any more!

Renae,

Are you saying they will cut both the outside and inside of the mat for FREE? Yeesh, I've been buying mine there and cutting them myself all these years!
