Suggestions on 150 + people - 07-18-2007, 04:54 PM

Hey,

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestion on how I should pose 150 + people. I am doing a family reunion this weekend in Galveston and I've contacted local vendors for bleacher rentals and everyone is higher then I was wanting to pay. I'm working with a low budget....

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Danielle

I've taken, and I've been in, several photos like that with the camera on the roof of a building and everyone standing below looking up.

Could you have the camera on the Seawall and people on the beach?

Or in the street on the Strand with you in a 2nd floor window?

Or drowning in the ocean below the Flagship? :-)

Reuel,

Thanks. Since there is rain in the forecast I'm not sure if I'll be able to take the pictures outdoors. I might have to take them inside the hotel. I'm not too sure if there is room available in the hotel.

Thanks once again. I'll try my best to figure something out.

standing around in a circle around the camera and taking multiple shots overlapping and then stiching them together in photoshop?

also, use of a stairway and you on a ladder in front of the stairway may help if the stairs are wide enough...

maybe do something like that but on a larger scale? shouldn't be overly difficult. especially if you find a big church with tons of steps or something like that.

Thanks. We will be on the seawall. I'm not too sure how many churches are located there. But I will check. Depending on the weather we might be able to do it on the beach. I'll be standing on the seawall while they are looking upwards towards me.

Thanks once agian

Someone else suggested this method to me as well. I could do that, but don't know how to overlap in photoshop. I'm have photoshop CS2 and I'm familiar with different functions. But I'm not too sure how to go about overlapping the picture.

How many pictures you suggest I should take to make sure I get a good picture to do the overlapping?

I would do as few as possible so you are not splicing alot, and try and pre-crop the pics so you aren't having to blend too many faces...it is a little tricky.

To take the images, meter for the light and then be sure to fix your camera into manual and set for that speed and aperature. That way, from frame to frame, the exposure will be identical and the images wont have wide shifts in the background light when you stitch them together.

As for the steps, you start by opening up all the contributing images, then FILE/NEW/PHOTOMERGE-PANARAMA...and include all the pics into the list of input into the panarama...it will then attempt to stitch them together automatically and allow you to edit as needed.

call a equipment rental company and rent a construction lift. Should be around $100-$150 for a days rental.
