I wasn't quite sure where to put this, couldn't find a forum that seemed to fit. Anyone can move it at will.

I was just wondering, where do you print your photos? I'm about to print some for a hardcopy portfoilio and I want them printed as nice as possible. In the past I've used shutterfly. Anyone used them? What's your fav place and why? Thanks

In my opinion, it pays off in the long run to use a professional lab. I've had a 20-year relationship with the fine folks at Full Color, located right there in Dallas with you. You may pay a little more per print than on online lab, but you can speak with actual professionals who care what you photos look like. Each of the customer service reps have been with the company for many years and it's a family business. They do top quality work and have lots of options for submitting your images online. They are also a big supporter of Texas pro photographers and the Texas Professional Photographers Association - TPPA.

i would not recommend using shutterfly for somethign important like portfolio images.

find a professional or independent lab where hte poeple know what htey are doing. you might not be able to get your prints instantly, but you will get nicer, higher-quality prints.

Im with daniel, Mpix. But when you order BE SURE to ALWAYS put the check in the box, DO NOT color correct my order. Other then that, they are FAB! I trust ALL my work to them.

Oh and, when you check that box, do make sure your monitor is within some reasonable tolerance of accurate calibration. Mine is not. Therefore, my most recent order looks commensurately... terrible...

Go to Camera Stop in Plano. They are in a shopping center at the corner of Preston Rd.
and Parker. They do great work, and you can get them in one hour. I believe
they will do color correction also. Ask them if they can do that.

I've been very happy with MPIX. They will send you a free sample of the papers that are available to you so you'll have an idea of what will work best for your particular shot. For example, I've had their standard matted paper and I've used their metallic paper. IMHO, the metallic paper just doesn't work quite as well for portraits, but it rocks on other stuff.

Anyway, I've also been very happy with the quality of their work and their customer service.

It depends on what my order consist of. If it's just standard prints Mpix, if its something special like a gallery wrap I use WHCC.

I Love MPIX!!! They have a sample they can send you so you can see the types of paper/quality of their work. Pretty good turn around as well.

I've been using millers lately, which is the professional side of mpix. I've been VERY happy with quality, but be warned...it IS a bit more expensive than the other places like say whcc. But hey, for a client, or even a portfolio I'd say its worth it!

I'm with 3CP... I use MPIX/Millers for most stuff, but also have an account with WHCC for those special occassions when it works out better. And, I'm thrilled that MPIX and WHCC are both using ROES now! WooHoo!

Miller's, Miller's, and Miller's for all my professional stuff and some of my personal stuff.

I use my local Costco for personal stuff, but while the quality is very close, the paper is thinner. This has lead to an interesting problem in my office (day job office). I put up about 15 10x15 photos on the walls. I didn't want to mount or frame them, so I just got some double sided archival quality scrapbooking tape. Well, the prints from Miller's are there - the ones from Costco fall off the wall EVERY weekend! Seems the thinner paper warps a lot easier with the moisture that accumulates over the weekend.

uhh, i print my own stuff at work.

the joys of working in a lab I guess. Any event stuf, I use exposuremanager for, where they send it to BWC.

if I need slide film etc in a rush, I'll use BWC.
