I currently have an 18-135 which came with the camera, also bought a 70-300 1:4-5.6 IS lens as well.
If you had about $500 bucks only to spend (I might be able to swing more) what lens would you buy? I am looking at both used lenses and new ones so any ideas would be helpful.
I know that is not a lot of money but just throwing it out there. I have been shooting sports (football, cars (both at the track and car shows), wildlife park settings, and some nightlife. Also baseball will be kicking up soon so I will be at Minute Maid shooting baseball games so looking for another lens to have in the bag. I know that I should just wait until April and get the new 70-200 but might drop coin on something in between.
Suggestions?

Too many cooks spoiled the pot I guess. Is there a lens that is 4 1/2" long (measured from camera to end of lens-no hood or cap) plus a 1.4 TC? Assemble the pair inside the Park.

I thought about suggesting the 24-105 as well but I have no personal experience with it. | | | | | Supa Dupa Poster

The 24-105 is most likely my next lens but it is not a sport/wildlife lens.

A very useful lens at a reasonable price is the Canon 85mm/1.8.
I got it while saving up for my 70-200/f4 IS.
