FC Dallas / Pizza Hut Park - 04-08-2008, 03:26 PM

Has anyone been to an FC Dallas soccer game at Pizza Hut Park and taken their gear with them?

I'm looking to know what kind of restrictions there might be on camera or lense size, and also, if there is any chance of getting decent photos from the regular old public access areas.

Thanks for any info!

Yes. Many many times. It's easiest if you just take ONLY what you'll need... in a normal backpack. And, it depends on who's working the *door*. Your best bet is to find the oldest woman at the gate and walk up directly to her. I've never been turned away... but I'm really good about concealing everything.

I've been in there with a 300/2.8 in the stands... with no problems. I did get some *grief* from one guy once but I started moaning and complaining and backing up the lines and telling the guy to go get his supervisor... and he just let me in. But that was only once.

You'll never know until you try. And if you get rejected, regroup, rethink, and re-enter... through a different gate.

As long as you're just wanting to take photos for yourself and not for resale... you're cool.

My daughter will be playing in the mini game during halftime of the LA Galaxy game. You can bet your bippy that I'll be there with my D3 and 70-200 and 120-300. Shouldn't be a big issue. At least I hope

David: I was there for the Chivas game but I didn't see you. I just got a new 300 f/2.8 so I'm looking forward to the next game. I'll shout at you if I see ya... and I'm still trying to get a *skirt* pass... with no luck yet.

I'll be there tomorrow David... I'll be on the East side though.

I've got the trifecta this weekend... RoughRiders tonight, FC Dallas tomorrow, and Frisco Thunder on Sunday. It's gonna be a fun weekend!

I'm a professional photographer and was hired to shoot f the Dallas Cup. I worked the Dallas Cup every day, and was hired by Buzzz Photography. Like the other guy said, as long as you are just taking pictures for yourself and not selling them, you are cool.

You have to remember one thing, the company (in this case Buzzz Photography) had to pay a lot of money to be the only photography allowed to sale images.

I did a google search after the games were over and saw that where was someone selling pictures from the Dallas Cup that wasn't allowed too. Its one thing to say you work for the paper and get a pass, (only allowed in one area on the main field) but to sell your image's, show's that there are low lifes in photography as well. I won't give his name, he knows who he is.

Please don't ruin it for the rest of the professional photographers and qiut trying to sell pictures for next to nothing just because you have a full time job (non photgraphy) and your trying to to make enough to buy a new lens or whatever.

Have a great day shooting!

Amen! I'm just there to have fun and try to get some good shots. I'm not interested in selling photos of those guys. If I wanted to do that, I would go through the correct channels to do so... just not that interested (at the moment).

John,

A couple of photogs here were contracted (including myself) to shoot the Liverpool club for Editorial use in England. I don't know personally of any that were selling them elsewhere. Not that I disagree with you, I just haven't seen it myself.

Have a good weekend... I am off to make a few bucks for a new lens! J/King.
