I've been thinking about this for a few days, and would like some buy-in. I'd like to start a series of threads called, "Best place to (fill in the blank)".
I often come up with ideas for shoots but am then left scratching my head as to where to actually go to fulfill my inspiration. Personally, I've only lived in Texas for 7 years, so I don't know of all the cool places available to me to take pictures. I figured, hoped, that with all the brain-trust and experience in this group we could help to inspire each other.
Here's how it would work:
A thread would be started, "Best place to photograph running water".
Members would then reply with their suggestions, and maybe a couple of their photo's to back their claim.
The thread would run for a couple weeks, or however long for it to get lost in the shuffle. Maybe Able can sticky them for a week or so. We can stick with this format until ideas run dry, or people become disinterested. Also, I'd like for anyone that has a topic for one of these threads to be able to start one, but maybe keep it to at most 2 topics at a time. I still haven't figured the logisitcs of that yet. Maybe we can take nominations for topics or something.
Anyway, what do you guys think. Is this something that would be beneficial or even somewhat interesting?

Blon | Hey! I resemble that remark. Actually, it's been a little slow at work which affords me a little surfing time. Can't complain...until the boss finally figures it out.

I think it's a smart idea!
The only suggestion I'd have is to put the area in the topic line so we know where the suggestion is oriented to (ie. DFW, Houston, etc...).

Great idea and I like the recommendation to start the threads with DFW, HOUSTON, etc. so we can narrow it down to location. | | | | | Forum Master

I guess I had forseen this being more of a DFW locale only thing, but if everyone is interested in expanding the scope to encompass the entire state, so be it.
So, now that that's settled...any ideas or takers for the first thread?
I figured that we'd let this topic stew for the rest of today since we have some "hard-working" members that won't see this until they get home.

Count me as a big: ME TOO !
I think it's a grand idea, and I will take the time to support all the threads where I can contribute something worthwhile. Promise.
First thread: Best places in DFW to take wildlife and nature shots during the day in the summer without passing out from the heat. | | | | | Forum Master

Okay, are we ready to try this? If so, anyone have a pressing topic, otherwise I'll start that more generic thread tonight.
