Anyone need a part time photographer assistant? - 07-27-2010, 12:35 PM

So I figure that practice is always the best way to learn, but also being able to see or work with others is also a great way. So I was wondering if anyone out there in the Dallas area needed a part-time assistant? I do have a "normal" job that I work Wed-Sat 6am-4pm. The only time I wouldn't be avail pretty much is Thurs and Fri nights. I'm mainly interested in glamour or portrait photography.

You should look into some workshops and jump in.

I have done a few and they definitely help in the learning aspect.

David thanks for the offer. Practicing in a studio would definitely help. I'll see if I can't wrangle up someone to model for me and then see if I can workout a time with you.

I need help frequently but I do sports oriented shoots almost exclusively ice hockey, from high volume tournaments to team and individual shoots. It is sportraits but I do all low key lighting with 2-3 strobes so there is lots to learn.

I work with many teams at many rinks and work around their practice schedules which are mostly nights and weekends with a few early morning weekday shoots.

I'm in Ft Worth and you can help me if you like what I do. I have one assistant/intern now, but I don't want to take advantage of her or expect her to work too much. I try to make sure my assistants learn something each time they go with me.

I'm confused on your schedule. You said you have a regular job, but then you said you were available anytime except Thurs & Friday nights. So, do you mean you aren't available Tues-Sat 6-4 and Thurs/Friday nights? I have a bridal in the stockyards next sunday and an engagement in Las Colinas if you want to help with either of those.
